A Gentle Invitation

Feb 09

by Victoria Robinson

If you are weary, there is someone who is inviting you to rest. The One who has a humble heart is extending a gentle invitation for you to find rest and whose yoke is easy and burden is light. Girlfriends, sometimes this is the exact opposite of how we feel in our busy and tumultuous lives. We can feel stressed to the max and on overload.

Rest assured, your heavenly Father never intended for you to live your life without His rest. He desires to give you all the rest you need. His intense love for you means you can relax and feel well-rested. If you are struggling with this area of your life, then consider the words of the psalmist, “Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him.” All true rest is found in God alone. The lie we can fall for is if we just create enough time for recreation, sleep, or downtime, this will take care of us. While these are all important and good, without God at the center of them—they are futile.

Dearest girlfriends, let us accept His gentle invitation and find the wonderful rest only he can give.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” ~ Matthew 11:28-30 NIV
