Showing Contempt for the Riches of His Kindness

Jan 22

by Victoria Robinson

One of the attributes of your heavenly Father is kindness. Kindness is such a beautiful word. The Greek word for kindness is chrestotes which means: gentleness, moral goodness, integrity, and benignity. The Word of God describes kindness as one of the riches of God. So how is it we can show contempt for one of the great attributes of our heavenly Father? In the book of Romans it states, “… do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness leads you toward repentance?” We do this by passing judgement on others, thus condemning ourselves. This judgement harkens to the words written by Luke, the physician, “You can see the speck in your friend’s eye. But you don’t notice the log in your own eye.”

Dearest girlfriends, let us not show contempt for the rich kindness of our heavenly father by judging others instead of examining our own hearts.

You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment? Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness leads you toward repentance? ~ Romans 2:1-4 NIV

You can see the speck in your friend’s eye. But you don’t notice the log in your own eye. How can you say, “My friend, let me take the speck out of your eye,” when you don’t see the log in your own eye? You show-offs! First, get the log out of your own eye. Then you can see how to take the speck out of your friend’s eye. ~ Luke 6:41-42 CEV

So why do you condemn another Christian? Why do you look down on another Christian? Remember, each of us will stand personally before the judgment seat of God. For the Scriptures say, “ ‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow to me and every tongue will confess allegiance to God.’ ”Yes, each of us will have to give a personal account to God. So don’t condemn each other anymore. Decide instead to live in such a way that you will not put an obstacle in another Christian’s path. ~ Romans 14:10-13 NLT

Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off. ~ Romans 11:22 NIV

Speak Openly Girlfriends!

Nov 24

by Victoria Robinson

Have you ever had the privilege of leading someone to the cross of our Lord and Savior? If so, you know that speaking to them about how to receive eternal life was necessary. In fact, the Word of God tells us, “… how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?”

So now you may be thinking, “Where’s my pastor? Obviously he is the one who preaches. I’ll let him tell everyone I know!” Uh, girlfriends… I hate to tell you this, (Well, not really, I am smiling as I tell you this because it is the truth.) you are the one God has commanded to openly tell others about Him. All of us are to openly share the truth about our Lord and Savior.

If you have remained silent, it could be due to fear of rejection. This is a threatening tactic the enemy will use to keep you silent. Scripture shows us we should not worry about what people think of us, but we should be more concerned of what God thinks of us. Or perhaps you just did not know it is your responsibility. And now that I have just told you God’s Word declares you are responsible, you can no longer use that excuse. Sorry girlfriends! 😉 There is also one other possible reason you do not share your faith. You do not know how. If this is your reason, then enroll in evangelism training at your church. Dearest girlfriends, let us speak openly about the wonderful gift of eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

God sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. We saw his Son and are now telling others about him. God stays one with everyone who openly says that Jesus is the Son of God. That’s how we stay one with God and are sure that God loves us. ~ 1 John 4:14-16 CEV

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” ~ Romans 10:14-15 NIV

I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him. ~ Luke 12:4-5 NIV

… Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent. ~ Acts 18:9 NIV

… Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. … ~ 1 Peter 3:15 NIV

And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. ~ Colossians 4:3-6 NIV
