Living a Worthy Life Because He is Worthy

Feb 08

Girlfriends, we should desire to live a life worthy of our Lord and Savior’s calling. This will bring glory to the one who so graciously has given us eternal life. The apostle Paul said we coud do this by, “bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.”

We would do well to consider our motive of living a worthy life that we  might bring glory to our Lord and Savior. If we have gratitude for all He has done for us we will want to thank Him with our life. A former president of Princeton put it this way, “As a young man I accepted Christ and the gift of eternal life. All the rest of my life was simply a P.S. to that day, saying, ‘Thank you, Lord, for what you gave to me then.'”

Dearest girlfriends, I pray we would seek to live a life worthy of His calling.

With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith. We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. ~ 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 NIV

And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. ~ Colossians 1:10-12 NIV

Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess. He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God’s house. Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself. ~ Hebrews 3:1-3 NIV

“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.” ~ Revelation 4:11 NIV
