Taking a Spill in “High Heels”

High heels are so much fun to wear. They are so feminine and can really elongate your legs and make you feel pretty. Sometimes all it takes is a cute high heel to lift a girl’s spirits up. On the other hand, some “high heels” can cause us to take quite a spill. This would include the “high heels” of pride and haughtiness.
Just because high heels can cause you to trip and fall, does not mean you can never wear them. You just have to wear the right ones. My adorable husband, Rick, knows that a sure way to make me smile is to compliment my shoes by saying, “Cute shoes!” What “cute shoes” does the Word of God encourage us to wear? Try a pair of “humble high heels”. Being a lady who practices humility will ensure you do not trip and fall.
Dearest girlfriends, let us kick off the “high heels” of pride and haughtiness in our life and slip on the “high heels” of humility.

Une Délicieux Recette?

As an avid cookbook collector, I always love finding a delicious recipe, or as the French would say, “une délicieux recette”. Without even trying a new recipe, I can usually tell by the ingredients if I would enjoy eating the finished product. I did however recently come across a recipe that does not appear to be very delicious. This French dessert is not sweet, but rather one that would leave a bitter taste in your mouth. Oddly enough, the name of the recipe would suggest one key ingredient which is not even in it. The ingredients are fairly simple. Just mix together fierté with some hauteur, and voilà—tarte humilité! This french recipe cannot be found in a cookbook, but rather THE Book.
Perhaps you have tasted the Americanized version of tarte humilité, known simply as, humble pie. The basic ingredients are pride and haughtiness. Girlfriends, if we do not humble ourselves, God will certainly humble us by allowing us to take a fall filled with destruction.
Dearest girlfriends, I pray we would humble ourselves so that we could say the words the psalmist said to the Lord, “My heart is not proud, O LORD, my eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me.”
