A Hurried Day

Dec 31

by Victoria Robinson

Sometimes it is hard to believe there are only twenty-four hours in a day. In fact King Solomon said, “The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises.” He makes it sound like our days are just a whirlwind of hurry, hurry, hurry!  So much to do, so little time! Yet He who created our days knows far better than we mere humans how much time is needed in each day to achieve what He desires.

Spending time wisely can make for an interesting day. We are to take care of ourselves and part of that includes sleeping. Yet the Word of God warns us that, “A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest— and poverty will come …” We should also consider spending some time in physical exercise, and yet we are told, “Physical exercise has some value, but spiritual exercise is much more important, for it promises a reward in both this life and the next.” Serving at our church is important, and yet we must not neglect our families in the process.

It seems the key to all this is to seek our heavenly Father’s guidance on what activities we should be involved in. Dearest girlfriends, I pray we would be wise time managers with the days our heavenly Father has given us.

The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises. ~ Ecclesiastes 1:5 NIV

Do not waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wives’ tales. Spend your time and energy in training yourself for spiritual fitness. Physical exercise has some value, but spiritual exercise is much more important, for it promises a reward in both this life and the next. ~ 1 Timothy 4:7-8 NLT

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven … ~ Ecclesiastes 3:1 NIV

How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest— and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man. ~ Proverbs 6:9-11 NIV
