Cha-ching!

Jan 28

by  Victoria Robinson

When you receive income, does your heart ever sing, “Cha-ching!”? It is always exciting to see money or goods coming into our possession. The bigger the check—the bigger the excitement! Perhaps you work hard and earn a large wage. On the other hand, perhaps you work hard and earn minimum wage. Either way the Word of God gives us the principle that it is honorable to work, regardless of the amount of income. However one must admit it can be frustrating to work just as hard as someone else and see them rake in way more cash. I am not talking about jealousy,  just saying plainly life does not always seem fair. Though there is work we can all do that pays a fair wage for every employee. That would be working in the kingdom of God.  All such labor has an eternal cha-ching! Not meaning we can earn our way into heaven, for that is a gracious gift given freely to all who call on the name of Jesus Christ.

Moses took an eternal viewpoint when he understood his reward was yet to come. Jesus told us storing up eternal rewards was more important than earthly rewards. Girlfriends, our motives should be pure, but there is nothing wrong with our hearts singing cha-ching when we store up treasures in heaven.

Dearest girlfriends, I pray we would work harder for our heavenly “paychecks” than our earthly paychecks.

By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time. He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward. ~ Hebrews 11:24-26 NIV

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. ~ Matthew 6:19-21 NIV

All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty. ~ Proverbs 14:23 NIV

This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. ~ Romans 3:22-24 NIV

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. ~ Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV

What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. For we are God’s fellow workers … ~ 1 Corinthians 3:5-9 NIV

Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life. ~ 1 Timothy 6:18-19 NIV
